So it’s been almost 20 days since I’ve started using the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo and it’s been a good experience so far. Here are some of it’s pros and cons so far…

Pros

  • The phone has adequate power with the Hexacore Exynos 5260 processor coupled with Mali-T624 GPU and 2 GB RAM. Almost all mundane tasks are smooth and fast…
  • Even though it’s only a 8 MP unit same as xPeria L the camera quality was much better and the auto focus performed better from my older smartphone…
  • Even though the 5.5″ screen has a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (267 ppi) the color reproduction of the AMOLED screen is brilliant and text is sharp and good to read even in direct sunlight.
  • The touchwiz is a hit or miss affair with lots of extra apps which I don’t use but the general UI is easy to use . Almost 1.1 GB RAM was free even after 2-3 apps were opened
  • The call quality was good and the default keyboard was easy to type
  • Even though the phone is large it’s slim and light enough to easily carry around and use.
  • Had two minor firmware updates with the phone still at Android KitKat 4.4.2
  • For my usage I was able to get 2 to 2.5 days from the  3100 mAh rated battery (Always on 2G Data, 1 Gmail + 2 Email accounts on sync along with whats app and 2-3 hours of calling)
  • Great to see the battery being charged within 2 hours with the provided Samsung charger…

Cons

  • Obviously the size and not easy to with a single hand
  • The touch wiz UI can sometimes be slow even with 2 GB RAM
  • Bloatware could have been reduced with a option given to the users manually install them if it’s needed…
