It’s been a long time I wrote something here in my Techie Bin. And coming across my nephew’s Pocophone F1 in flesh I am compelled to write my views on one of the hottest phones of 2018. The version which he had was the Kevlar edition with 8GB RAM and 256 GB Internal Memory
First always comes the look, and it’s supposed to be one of the main cons of this phone, personally I liked the phone, it was slim and nice to hold and the kevlar black gave it a solid touch. At 29K (price), the phone’s look might not something to crave about but I found it solidly built and functional.
Second and the most important thing about all it’s hype is the Snapdragon 845 that keeps it ticking and I found the phone very smooth and fast to use. It was running MIUI 10 on Android Pie which is also a huge plus since it initially came with Android Oreo.
The 6.18″ FHD+ LCD display cannot compete with OLED’s of flagship phone but at this price it has a very good display and his phone didn’t have light bleeding issues. The dual camera took some nice photos and I was satisfied with the photography in dimly lit situations. As I said, for the price it ticks all the right boxes and what can be expected from it.
Finally MIUI 10, even though I am not a fan of MIUI, the POCO launcher on it and the plethora of customization options on it was nice to play around and use. The full screen gesture support was excellent. The lack of notification icons near the NOTCH (yes it has a notch and that too a wide one) and some bugs in the software are my two CON’s on this phone. But from what I’ve heard Xiaomi is proactive on software updates and this should be good news for F1 users and perspective buyers.
SO IF YOU ASK ME, FOR A BUDGET OF AROUND 18-20K, I WOULD SUGGEST GO FOR POCOPHONE F1 AND IN FLIPKART SPECIAL SALES TIMES IT COMES WITH EVEN BETTER PRICES.
